When we first started doing the Letters of the Week, I was confident that alphabetically was the way to go. It just made the most sense to me, at the time. Then I discovered that some letters are more confusing than others, so I guess it makes sense to save those for last. Now I've discovered that all I need to do is ask my daughter what letter she wants to do next. When I asked her this week, she said, and I quote "W is for Work". Not only did she give me the letter, but she gave me the project.
We printed the pages for the community helpers clip art from KidzClub. There were so many great pictures of a Doctor, Veterinarian, Chef, Farmer, and Mail Carrier. We talked about the different pictures and what each job was. My daughter began to tell me a story about the Farmer and the Pirate Ship. Then we moved into our art project.
I printed a large "W" on the computer, cut it out, and my daughter glued the pictures to the "W". Here's a picture of the beginning of this project.
I thought I'd take a picture of it before completion because my daughter's plan was to use every single picture that we cut out, which means the "W" is no longer visible.
If my daughter continues to pick the letters, which I envision she will. Our next letter will be the X-tremely confusing "X" (Xylophone) because she is really smitten with the letter "X" right now.
