What are some words that begin with the letter "B"? Bubbles, band-aids, balls, butterflies, baskets, balloons, boxes, books. And what do all these "B" words have in common? Well, for the most part, children love these things. At least, my daughter loves these things, even band-aids. So I think that the letter "B" is pretty interesting, and the letter "B" week is pretty exciting.

Math & Science: 1. Collect different items that begin with different letters. Put them in a bag or box. Ask the children to go through the bag/box and find the items that begin with the letter “B”. 2. Use the pictures from the letter “A” week, as well as, Letter “B” pictures. Hide or place them in various spots around the room. Have the children go on a scavenger hunt in search of pictures of items that begin with the letter “B”. 3. Make cookies or brownies using a letter “B” alphabet cookie cutter. 4. Gather some different sized balls. Ask the children to put them in order from biggest to smallest. You could also ask the children to find things around the room that are the letter "B" colors (blue and black).
Arts & Crafts:
1. Print out on the computer or draw 2 large letter B’s. Cut them out or have the children assist in cutting, if age appropriate. The children can then decorate the B’s using crayons, markers, paint, stickers, or any other embellishments. Glue the 2 B’s together to make a beautiful butterfly. The children can then use their butterfly wings and fly around the room. You can see the beginning of this project below. My daughter wasn't interested in designing a butterfly, so we have yet to complete it, but if we have a change of heart, I'll post the completed pictures.
2. Make letter “B” friends or paper "B"ag puppets to use during story time.
3. Use cardboard boxes to make a garage for the toy trucks or use as storage for other toys. Ask the children to decorate the boxes with crayons, paint, or markers. You can also use shoe boxes to store art supplies. My daughter and I turned a cardboard box into a big Backyardigans bed when she was transitioning into her big girl bed.
